Understanding and Management:The Institute is continuing the work begun by the Haig-Brown Kingfisher Creek Society which, in fulfillment of Haig-Brown’s dream, rebuilt the creek running through the property. Now, the Haig-Brown Institute is the steward of the Campbell River watershed which it oversees with a watershed management approach. Recently, the Institute constructed a series of fishways on the Quinsam River. We continue to promote conservation among youth and adults, and speak out on relevant issues regarding the river. The work is locally based and largely volunteer. Its inspiration is Haig-Brown's vision of people adopting and caring for a stream. |
